GetGreen x Spencer Stuart Tokyo

Cultivating a Culture of Sustainability at Spencer Stuart

The Partnership

In late 2025, Spencer Stuart, a global leader in executive search and leadership advisory, partnered with GetGreen to launch a specialized sustainability pilot for their Tokyo office. This collaboration marked a significant milestone: the first-ever implementation of GetGreen in Japan and the broader Asian market.

The Challenge

While Spencer Stuart had existing global sustainability initiatives, the goal for the Tokyo office was to:

  • Localize corporate goals into daily habits.
  • Bridge the gap between environmental awareness and tangible action.
  • Engage the Tokyo team through a culturally relevant and accessible platform.

The Solution: Office Sustainability Contest

From November to December 2025, over 20 employees participated in a customized sustainability challenge. Spencer Stuart and GetGreen worked together to develop 20+ localized actions tailored specifically for the Tokyo office environment, including:

  • Office Efficiency: Practical energy-saving tips for the workplace.
  • Conscious Consumption: Choosing organic, low-packaging snacks and lunches to minimize waste.
  • Internal Education: Deep dives into Spencer Stuart's specific green goals.
  • Community Connection: Joining the "Office Green Market" and participating in local volunteer activities within the Marunouchi district.

To ensure success, GetGreen launched a partially translated Japanese version of the app — the first of its kind — to improve accessibility and user experience for the local team. Watch the video highlights.

Key Takeaways

  1. Localization is Key: Success in new markets like Japan requires cultural nuances, from language translation to specific regional volunteer opportunities (like those in Marunouchi). Customization of the sustainability solution is essential for engagement.
  2. Collective Action: Small teams can produce outsized results (500+ actions) when given the right tools to track their progress.
  3. Scalability: GetGreen and Spencer Stuart are working on more potential future collaborations.
